This essentially means that we can both tender and work with public sector clients under the terms of our framework without the need to resubmit our credentials every time. As ever, it comes down to having a successful working relationship with the individuals who you are actually supporting. Marketing and communications is normally seen as a corporate service function and the teams have to push quite hard to roll out projects against a tide of apathy or even open resistance to change. But businesses have now realised that good communication can actually deliver real business value and that if it isn’t effective, the business can suffer. Corporates are now employing more talented, qualified professionals who understand the value of design to the business and are great to work with.

smaller businesses — Or maybe we should call them personality businesses. Many reflect the nature and personality of their owners. There is always a great deal more than time and money being invested on their part and opinions are often expressed as emotions. We have to step back and be practical and make sure that we are recommending the best business decision rather than a personal preference.
More than anything else though, there is always terrific enthusiasm and energy to make things happen, especially with the new businesses where there may not actually be anything more to go on than a good idea and a dream.
